Dove Hunting

So my dear sweet husband went dove hunting yesterday (a mourning dove is pictured at left).  He got a hunting license and borrowed the gun...I won't go into all the details, but now I have dove meat in my fridge and need to figure out how to cook it....
Hmmm. I'll let you know how that turns out.  I think frying it will be the answer because almost everything tastes OK fried.

The husband thought I would enjoy hunting.  Um, NO.  I told him I would rather shoot cans or targets or hay bales.

UPDATE: I marinated the meat overnight in Italian dressing, then wrapped the breasts in bacon and pan fried them till the bacon browned.  I then baked the dove in the oven for an hour.  I did not try it because dove is a dark meat (I do not like dark meat)...anyhoo, the husband tried it and did not care for it.  I am unsure if it was the preparation or the taste.

  1. Maybe he didn't like it because you're not supposed to eat doves!! :)

  2. Hehehehehe, that's sounds like Alexis...she was freaked out about the whole situation.

Doves are birds of peace, you aren't supposed to shoot them, right?

  3. Jen, I know we both passionately dislike birds so think of it as less birds in the world to swoop and fly at our heads
